Choose the Right Belong CheckIn Mode for Every Venue

What it does

Belong CheckIn provides Check-In Modes for organisers and venue teams running cafés, events, communities, and co-working spaces. Belong CheckIn uses one QR-scanning flow that adapts to free attendance, venue payments, NFT tickets, and NFT memberships.

The central distinction is between getting access ahead of time and verifying that access on site. A visitor can buy an NFT ticket from an event page, chat, or shop and hold it in a wallet. At the venue, the visitor scans a QR code, the system checks the wallet, presents the valid pass, and asks for confirmation before completing check-in.

Each venue or hub has one primary access mode and can optionally combine it with a membership option. This lets a free meetup record attendance, a café or bar accept a venue payment, a conference check an NFT ticket, or a club verify an NFT membership through the same overall check-in flow.

The four modes serve different situations:

Free requires neither amount entry nor an NFT check. It is intended for meetups, free community visits, and simple attendance.
Venue payment can use an amount while requiring no NFT check. It is designed for cafés, bars, restaurants, and paid local experiences.
NFT ticket requires an NFT check but no amount entry at the check-in point. It suits conferences, concerts, and other ticketed or gated entry.
NFT membership also requires an NFT check and no amount entry. It is for clubs, communities, and recurring or member-only spaces.

Venue payment supports three amount flows. The customer can enter an amount, such as a check total; staff can send an owner-set quote after the visitor requests payment; or the venue can configure a fixed amount, such as the price of a day pass.

How it works

The visitor scans the QR code. This begins the universal check-in flow at the venue.
Belong CheckIn reads the venue settings. Those settings determine which access mode or modes are available.
The flow selects a mode. If the venue offers multiple modes, the visitor chooses how to check in. If there is only one configured mode, the flow uses it directly.
The selected mode performs its check. A free check-in asks the visitor to confirm attendance. A venue payment asks the visitor to enter or receive an amount and then pay. An NFT ticket or NFT membership checks the visitor’s wallet for the required NFT.
The NFT path responds to the wallet result. If the NFT is found, the visitor can continue to confirmation. If it is not found, the flow shows a buy option.
The check-in completes. Free attendance and successful NFT verification proceed through confirmation, while the venue-payment path completes after payment.

The flow also accounts for several specific conditions. If a wallet contains multiple valid NFTs, the visitor chooses which one to use, and tickets already used that day are marked. If an NFT has already been used that day, the visitor sees a warning, other available modes, and when the NFT can be used again.

For payments, an amount below the configured minimum is blocked with a clear minimum. If the connection is lost during payment, the pending state is saved so the visitor can resume, retry, or cancel.

Who it’s for and when to use it

Use Free when the goal is attendance rather than payment or token-gated access. The documentation identifies meetups, free community visits, and simple attendance as the main fit. In a community setting, free check-in records attendance and can apply the configured flat reward. A community can also add membership verification for member-only access.

Use Venue payment where the visit includes an on-site payment. A café or bar can let a visitor enter an order total, pay in USDC or LONG, and receive the venue’s configured spend reward. A membership NFT can also gate member perks. For a co-working space, venue payment can provide a fixed-price day pass.

Use NFT ticket when access was purchased before arrival. The documentation places conferences, concerts, and ticketed or gated entry in this category. The ticket NFT is bought ahead of time, and the on-site scan verifies that the wallet contains a valid ticket before granting access.

Use NFT membership for recurring or member-only spaces. Clubs and communities can verify the configured NFT collection, while a co-working space can verify a monthly membership NFT on entry. Because a venue or hub can have one primary mode plus an optional membership option, a payment or free-attendance experience can sit alongside membership verification.

The documented examples show how the same components support different venue types. A café or bar can combine payment and membership. An event can use ticket-only access. A community can combine free attendance with membership, and a co-working space can combine fixed venue payment with membership.

At the event

Consider a ticketed event using the NFT ticket mode. Before event day, the attendee buys the ticket NFT and keeps it in a wallet. At the door, the attendee scans the event QR code. Belong CheckIn reads the event’s settings and checks the wallet for a valid ticket.

When the ticket is found, the flow can present the pass, such as “VIP Pass — Day 1 of 3,” and ask the attendee to confirm. The completed check-in grants access. The event mode does not ask the attendee to enter an amount at the door because the ticket was bought ahead of time.

If the wallet has more than one valid NFT, the attendee selects which one to use. Tickets already used that day are marked. If the selected NFT has already been used that day, the system displays a warning, shows any other available modes, and states when the ticket can be used again. If no required NFT is found, the flow shows a buy option rather than completing the ticket check-in.

Then open Belong CheckIn to use the check-in product. Select the access approach that matches the venue: free attendance, an on-site venue payment, a ticket purchased ahead of time, or membership verification for recurring and member-only access.

FAQ

What Check-In Modes does Belong CheckIn support?

Belong CheckIn supports Free, Venue payment, NFT ticket, and NFT membership. Each venue or hub runs one primary mode and can optionally combine it with a membership option.

What happens when a visitor does not have the required NFT?

Belong CheckIn checks the visitor’s wallet for an NFT ticket or membership. If the required NFT is not found, the check-in flow shows a buy option instead of completing access confirmation.

Can Belong CheckIn handle payment interruptions or ticket reuse?

Yes. A lost connection during payment saves the pending state for resume, retry, or cancellation. A ticket already used that day produces a warning, shows other available modes, and says when it can be used again.
